Build a Bear

Grandmomma, Granddaddy, Aunt J and Jake were in town this weekend. Nicholas had such a great time playing with Jake. We went to build a bear on Saturday morning and Nicholas and Jake made some new friends. The picture is of them and their new buddies. Nicholas made a dog and named him Sam (well...grandmomma named him Sam and Nicholas agreed). Jake made a cheetah and named him cheetah! Grandmomma got them a house to live in. After Build a Bear, we went to see the Lion King which is touring off of Broadway. The kids loved it.

Singing in the Rain

We decided to enjoy the weather this afternoon and walk down to Zaxby's for dinner. It is about a mile from our house. Not a bad walk. On the way back home, of course, it started raining. We were about 3/4 of the way home and it wasn't raining that hard so we kept walking. I'm sure everyone thought we were crazy. The funny thing is, it was really fun. Nolan, who was the only one half-way protected from the rain in his stroller, kept sticking his feet out to feel the raindrops. Nicholas, who was enjoying the ride on Daddy's shoulders, started singing "Rain, Rain, go away". Needless to say we were all wet when we finally got home, but it was so much more memorable than a walk in the sun :)

Memories of Childhood

I laid awake trying to go to sleep the other night (like I do most nights) and a million thoughts ran through my head. I starting wondering what Nicholas and Nolan would be like when they are grown-ups and it got me thinking about what they would remember from their childhoods and what I remember from mine. I tried to think of my earliest memories and I must admit everyone I thought of was happy. I'm sure there were bad times, but I don't recall them. Here are some of my early happy memories:
1) Staying up late with my sister Jamie and letting our imaginations go wild after we were supposed to be asleep.
2) Sitting on my Grandmother's Lap with Jamie and some cousins and having a singing contest
3) Getting horsey rides around the den on my Daddy's back
4) My Dad letting Jamie and I fix his hair. I really wish I had a picture of some of the styles we did.
5) Always knowing that there was something good packed in my lunchbox by my Mom.
6) Getting dressed for school in front of the wood burning stove on cold mornings.
7) Thinking my Mom and Dad and sisters were the greatest...which I still do.

Mostly I remember knowing that I was loved and safe. Isn't that a great feeling? I had the best time going down memory lane as I lay there. It put a big smile on my face and gave me the best warm and fuzzy feeling. I can only hope that Nicholas and Nolan will look back with fond memories of their childhoods one day and that it will leave them with a smile on their faces.

Touch a Truck

Alpharetta had their annual Touch a Truck today. It's an event where the kids get to see all different sorts of trucks and cars up close. Nicholas got to sit behind the wheel of a firetruck, police car, and 18-wheeler. I thought everyone would enjoy seeing some of the pics. Both boys had a great time.

Daddy is coming home!

Yeah...Jason comes home tonight. He has been in Texas since Monday morning for work. The kids and I are so ready for him to be home. We've had a great week together and both Nicholas and Nolan have been really good for me, but Mommy needs some grown-up conversation :) Getting two kids and yourself ready in the morning wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I managed to make it to work every morning on time...go me! I even managed to work out 3 nights. Thank goodness for Dora and Diego. They kept Nicholas entertained every night for a hour so I could have some "Me" time.

Nolan sits up!

Nolan finally did it...he sat up my himself! Here's a pic of Nicholas showing him how to do it!
We had a nice weekend here. We went to a birthday party yesterday and then I ran errands. Nicholas helped me plant some flowers and bushes today. I dug the hole and he poured in the plant food. Hope everyone has a great week!

Thanks Mommy

"Thanks Mommy", aren't those two great words. I went to the grocery store last night and Nicholas helped me put up the groceries when I got home. Everytime he looked in the bag and saw something for him he said, "Wow...you got me X, thanks Mommy!" It was so sweet. It was nice to have some appreciation. I know the other moms reading this will understand.

As you can see from the pics, both boys are doing good. I love the pic of Nicholas eating his dinner in the bath tub...isn't that the life!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Congrats Jason!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jason's basketball team won their championship game yesterday. Go St Brigid Basketball! It was a great game. Jason scored the first 15 points. I lost count after that. Nicholas had a blast yelling "Go Daddy".

He weighed 17 1b 5 oz (44th percentile) and was 27.5 inches (79th percentile).

Compared to Nicholas at 6 months

Jason's brother is still in the hospital, but is doing much better. Thank you for all your prayers.
