Pumpkin Day

Last Friday all the 1st graders at Nicholas's school celebrated pumpkin day. Since Nolan doesn't have school on Fridays, he got to join in on the fun.

It started with a pumpkin inspired snack. Eyes, Nose and Mouth are sugar cookies pieces which I put on an orange plate for an eatable jack o' Lantern! The kids loved them. Thanks Pinterest!

Here is Nicholas with 2 of his classmates enjoying the snack.

We then broke into groups for some fun. We weighted and measured our pumpkins including counting the lines it had. We then discovered that pumpkins float in water. They don't sink like we thought! We then cut it open and estimated and counted the seeds. The group then decided on what we wanted our pumpkin face to look like. Ours was a vampire pumpkin which they named Cee-Cee. Each kid got to crave out a piece.

The kids also got mini pumpkins which they colored on to make jack o' lanterns.

Pumpkin Patch

I love fall! Football, cool weather, leaves changing colors, and off course our annual trip to Burt's Pumpkin Patch! We headed up there last Tuesday after school and had a wonderful time on the Hayride and picking out our pumpkins!

Now we just have to crave the 2 pumpkins we got!

Alabama Homecoming

Two Saturdays ago, we headed to T-town to cheer on Alabama at the Homecoming game. The tide won 34-0! Roll Tide Roll!

We had a wonderful time. We got to visit with our friends Kara and Ethan, the couple that introduced us and got to stop in and see the daughter of some friends that is a freshman this year.

The boys looked so cute in their Bama gear and houndstooth hats!

Baby Genius

While working on math last night with Nicholas, I asked the question of what is 2 + 6? Nolan without hesitation responded with 8! Oh my, we have a baby genius! Before you start calling the news, he missed all the rest :) Oh well, still the cutest little 4 year old ever!

Interview with a 4 Year Old

In the words of Nolan.....

Superhero Nolan

Nolan asked for a superhero birthday party about 4 months ago and never changed his mind so superhero training camp it is!

His party was last Saturday and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was a little bit of a challenge having the party with 3 and 4 year olds, but we made it through and I think the birthday boy had a great time!

His cake---yes I made it!

Trying to escape venom's web!

Showing our superhuman strength!

Crushing rocks...aka black balloons!

Capturing bad guys - Thanks to our bad guys Julie and Reagan!

Freeing our heros from Mr Freeze's ice! The kids loved this. We eventually gave the birthday boy the hose and let him go!

Leaping over buildings!

Silly String war! Nicholas is in the venom costume and got sprayed by everyone! He loved it!

Ready for some cake. Everyone got a cape I made which I did out of felt - super easy!

Happy Birthday Nolan!

Nolan turned 4 yesterday. I can't believe it! These years have flown by. I can't imagine life without my No-No. He is such a joy!

Age 1 1/2

4 years old!

My dear Nolan,

I am so blessed that God made me your mother. I love your energy and wish I had a third of what you have! I love how much you love life. I love to listen to your laughter. No one can be around you when you laugh and not end up laughing as well. You love watching cartoons and sports especially scooby doo and Alabama football! You love playing superheros! You dress up almost everyday and it makes me smile.

I can't wait to see what this year brings. It seems like you have grown up so much these past 6 months. You are now dressing yourself and brushing your own teeth. Such a big boy! I see only glimpses of my little toddler and I know he is fading fast. It makes me sad, but also happy to see this amazing little boy emerging!

Here's to a great year as a 4 year old!

Love,

Mom
