Timing is everything

Today Jason and I have been married for 9 years. I can't believe how fast the years have gone. So many wonderful times and let's be honest not so wonderful times, but I wouldn't change any of it.

For those of you who don't know we met 10 years ago through friends, but didn't start dating after meeting. One random Feb weeknight I called my friend to ask her to dinner because I knew her husband was out of town and I was craving some Mexican food. I braved the Atlanta traffic to get over to her side of town and as we were on our way to the restaurant she randomly stated that Jason lived near where we were going. "Let's invite him along", I said. And the rest is history. We had our 1st date that weekend and were engaged in December.

This morning I found a touching letter Jason had written to me for our anniversary. He mentions how things could have turned out so differently if he hadn't been home from work yet or hadn't come to dinner that night. He is so right, timing is everything.

I thank God that destiny took over that night. Jason is a wonderful husband and the best father ever. Also so glad I was wanting some cheese dip on that Feb night 10 years ago!

Jousting anyone?

Saturday night we went to Medieval Times for dinner. It was so neat. The outside and inside looks like a castle. While waiting for the show and dinner to begin, the boys got their shields and swords and entertained us and a few other people with their sword fight! The food wasn't half bad. Only down side was having to eat with your hands. No utensils. Can we say messy! The show was great and I really enjoyed watching the boys get into it. Would definitely go back and recommend to families with young kids.

It's a Girl!

Finally getting a girl! Meet the newest member of our family. She is 6 weeks old and is a standard schnauzer and will be coming home to us in a couple of weeks. She is from a litter of 12 so picking her was hard, but she came right up to Nicholas and we all fell in love. As some of you might know we had another standard for about 6 years that passed away last summer. Shannon was wonderful dog and was from Jason's Grandmother's line of schnauzers. When we told this guy about Jason's grandmother, he about fell over. Nanna was well known in the schnauzer world! I know she is smiling down from heaven right now at our latest addition!

We are all looking forward to getting to bring the new puppy home. Now to come up with a name..any ideas?

Summer Fun

We have been having a great summer so far! We tried something different this year since I am working from home full time. The kids are staying home with me! They have done a couple of morning camps, but for the most part they have been home. So far so good. We have our moments, but we are all getting along for now. Nicholas did basketball camp one week and will do it again next week and Nolan went to preschool camp at the church, which is where he will be going to school next year. The camp was so cute, even Nicholas wanted to go! The theme was commotion in the ocean and they studied a different animal each day and had a water day too. We have also been doing swimming lessons the past 2 weeks. Nolan is learning the correct way to kick and move his arms since he is already swimming. He even jumped off the diving board! Nicholas is learning the different strokes and has jumped off the high dive!

Three and half more weeks to go before Nicholas will be a first-grader! I can't believe how fast the summer has gone. We have lots packed into these last 3 weeks. Nicholas will go to b-ball camp, dinner at Medieval Times, we fly down to south florida to go to the beach, six flags, visit to Auburn to see old friends, visit to Dothan to see Grandmomma and Granddaddy, and a trip to the aquarium.

Below is some of the what has been keeping us busy this past week.

Great Neighbors

We are so lucky to live in a great neighborhood. Everyone is so friendly and there are lots of kids. Two of our favorite kids live right down the street and both the boys love to play with them. Their Mom was nice enough to invite them over yesterday to play. They went over around 1:30. At 4 I went down to get them and all four of the kids decided that mine needed to stay for dinner. My neighbor agreed and told me and Jason to go out, so we had an unexcepted date night. So nice to have a quiet dinner :) My neighbor kept me updated through the day with pics (see below). The 1st one had both Jason and I rolling on the ground. Nolan loves to dress as any superhero. 2nd was the kids toasting over a snack!

4th of July in Seagrove Beach

We packed up the car on Friday and headed back to the beach. This time it was Seagrove Beach with Jason's family. It was another great trip! The boys loved playing with their 2nd cousins (Hayes, Daley and Griffin). We all had a great time playing in the sand and we braved the seaweed to cool off in the ocean. Nolan learned to swim in the condo pool without his floaties! I can't believe it, 3 years old and swimming! We got lots of candy and beads at the 4th of July parade and watched fireworks on the beach. Had a little excitement when some one's fireworks caught the brush on fire 2 condos down from us. Thought the building was on fire, but turned out it was just the brush and palm trees. That is why I leave it to the professionals!

Funny quote from Nicholas on the way down. Jason asked if he was going to drive us to the beach and Nicholas replied, "Drive the car, no, but I'll drive you crazy!"
