Why you shouldn't feed a baby chocolate cake?

As if you really need a reason why you shouldn't feed a baby chocolate cake, but in case you do here's two....

And he had already had a bath when this happened, Thank God for baby wipes!

Happy Birthday Nolan!

Today is Nolan's 1st Birthday. I can't believe it has been a year and what a year it has been. Adjusting to two kids and remembering all the stuff that comes with baby. It was crazy and I'm sure it will continue to be, but I love it. My sweet little Nolan who never fails to bring a smile to my face with his cute little laugh and toothy grin. You completed our family and I couldn't imagine a day without you. I hope that you only continue to laugh and smile as the years go by. This picture below describes you to a tee. Always moving and exploring with a smile on your face. I love you little Nolan!

Crafty Mommy

I had the whole day off to take care of Nolan today and since he decided to take a 4 hour nap, I decided to work on some projects.

The first was an Alabama outfit for Nolan. The pants were a little long as you can tell, so I had to go back and fix them. They now fit great. I can't wait for it to get a little cooler so he can wear it! I've already cut out two more pair of pants to make tonight. One has cars on it and the other are for x-mas. I'll post pics when I'm done.

I got the idea for the pumpkins from my sister. I found these at Joann's for $2.99 on sale and painted them. I think they turned out really cute. I can't take credit for the scarecrow. I got it on sale on Joann's.

Nolan Update

Nolan's surgery went great. We were home by 8:45 and he has already eaten breakfast and is now playing. His ears are draining, but should stop by Saturday. Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

Nolan's 1st Birthday Party

Nolan had his first birthday party this past Saturday at Grandmomma and Granddaddy's house. It was a perfect day. He celebrated with family and friends. His allergies were still acting up, but I think he still had a good time. Thanks to everyone you came to help him celebrate. Some had to drive a couple of hours to get there and I really appreciate it and enjoyed seeing you all!
I still can't believe my baby is almost one. His actual birthday is the 30th..so I have a baby for a couple of more days.
His surgery is still scheduled for Thursday. I'll write as soon as I can afterwards and let everyone know how he is doing. Below are some pics from the party and today. Enjoy!

I love Whiny Kids

Don't you just love whiny kids? Nicholas has been really whiny the last couple of days. When he gets this way, he has to contradict everything I say. If I say it looks like rain, he says it doesn't. If I try to sing along with him in the car, I'm told to be quiet, he's trying to sing. My favorite....This morning we got dressed and I told him he looked handsome. His reply, "I'm not handsome Mommy". I love it! On the plus side, when he is like this, he wants me to baby him, which I enjoy (sometimes). He wants to be held and snuggle. I know there aren't that many years left before he won't want to snuggle with me, so I'll enjoy anyway I can get it now.

Elmo and Stone Mountain

What a fun Saturday! Jason's Mom and brother, Justin, came over from Birmingham and we went to see Sesame Street Live. Nicholas and Nolan both loved it.

Can you tell that Nolan liked the show?

Nicholas was memorized

After the show, we all headed for Stone Mountain. We rode the Tram up to the top of the mountain. I was really surprised that Nicholas wasn't scared to be so high up. My little boy is growing up :( After that everyone went to enjoy the laser light show while I took one tired baby home. Nolan was up so late last night. He normally goes to bed around 7 and didn't get to sleep until 9:45-10:00. He slept until 9 this morning. He was so tired. He came and slept with me at around 5:30. He loves to snuggle. I love it!

All in all, it was a great Saturday....and Alabama won...Roll Tide!

Ear Update

Nolan finally went to the ENT yesterday about all the ear infections he's had. The audiologist tested his hearing and said he favors his right ear, but once the infections stop that should correct itself. Of course, he had fluid in both ears. The doctor took one look in his ears and his history and said we need tubes. I think he thought I was going to argue, but that is what I wanted to hear. His surgery is scheduled for September 25th. Please keep us in your prayers. I know it is a simple procedure, but this is a first for me...having one of my kids operated on. I just hope and pray that this ends his battle with the ear infections.

Week in Review

What a week! Work has been crazy busy so I never got around to posting.

Nicholas's class at school talked about the human body and being healthy last week. All the kids brought had a bring a healthy snack to share on Friday with the class. Of course, I couldn't just go buy something and make it easy for me, I had to make something. I found this cute recipe in Family Fun Magazine. For any moms out there who don't subscribe to this mag, I highly recommend. Anyway, the pic below shows the healthy snack Nicholas took. It's popcorn, cheerios and dried fruit in ice cream cones. I thought it was pretty cute.

Saturday, I finally go around to getting my hair cut. I haven't cut it since May. It was so thick. I felt like a new person after my hair dresser trim and thinned it out. Nicholas went with me so that Daddy could watch some football in quiet while Nolan napped. Nolan also started pulling up...walking here we come!

Saturday night my friend Carolyn had her bachelorette party in Midtown Atlanta. She dressed in an old wedding dress and we all wore old bridesmaid dresses. Yes, Julie if you are reading this, I wore the dress from your wedding. We ate at the twisted taco on 12th street. It was so yummy! Afterwards we went to a bar called opera. It is in an old opera house. It was really pretty inside. I realized that either bars aren't fun if you are sober (I had to drive home so I played it safe) or I'm way past the stage in my life where nightclubs appeal to me. I had a great time going out, but really wanted to be in my PJs watching football with Jason. How boring am I? It was really funny how they kept carding us....I mean really, do I look like I'm under 21?

To show that I wasn't always so boring, here are some pics from my bachelorette party 6 years ago. My best friend Julie planned it. She told me I had to wear all white and then everyone surprised me by being in bridesmaid's dresses. It was so much fun. We all went out to Buckhead. There were some really "good" pics, but since my mom and Jason read this I figured I should play it safe :)

Labor Day

I hope everyone had a safe and happy labor day. I pray that anyone down near the Gulf made it out okay.

We spent the weekend at Logan Martin Lake at Jason's Mom's Lake Place. It was a nice relaxing weekend. Saturday was our nephew's Hudson 2nd b-day party. It was held at my sister-in-law's parents house at the lake. Nicholas got his 1st ride on a jet ski and loved it. Yesterday, all the men played golf and the boys and I hung out with Jason's Mom. We went for a boat ride with the kids and the dogs. The family all gathered last night to celebrate Jason's Late Father's Birthday.

As you can tell from the pics, the boys had a great time. It was Nolan and Shannon's 1st boat ride. I think they both enjoyed it.
This is Nicholas and Jason's Mom getting ready to fish. I'm glad she has the skill to bait the pole b/c I don't think I could do it. Needless to say, I was impressed.
This is a pic of me and Nolan that I took myself. I didn't think it was to bad.
This is Shannon enjoying the boat ride.
This is Uncle Justin's Dog, Jada. She really enjoyed the boat ride!

Now, we are sitting at home resting and getting ready for the week. I can't believe how fast the weekend went. At least we have a short week ahead :)

Some updates from last week. Nolan got another ear infection. We are going to the ENT on the 8th. I really hope they can do something about it. I'm starting to worry about his hearing.
