The Big 3-1

Yes, I'm officially 31. Yesterday was my birthday. I can't believe how fast time goes by once you are a grown-up. Do you remember how slow the 1st 18 years went? You were dying to grow up and be able to do what you wanted. How stupid were we? I would give anything to be a kid again.

I had a really good birthday. Jason surprised me with dinner out minus the kids on Friday night. We went to Flemings down in Dunwoody. It was really yummy! Saturday, my parents and nephew Jake came up to visit. It was really nice to have everyone here. Yesterday, I got the day off from work...a great perk! I spent the morning relaxing and the afternoon shopping. I got a new light for my bathroom with a little help from Mom and Dad :) Thanks! I'll post pics when I get it put up. Jason didn't want to fool with it last night.

Today, it's back to the real world :( At least it is supposed to be warmer today.

This is a pic of Nicholas and Jake. Yes, they have the same Pjs and the same pirate ship. They are so cute together!

As promised here the pics of my sewing. These were for my nieces, Audrey and Scout.

This is the one for Scout. I loved the material.

The shorts were my favorite, but a pain to make.

This is Audrey's. Again, I love the material.

It was lined in purple material with white polka dots. So cute!

I have one more girl outfit to make and I need to finish some stuff for the boys. Then I'm going to attempt making myself a dress. Wish me luck!

Farewell Mr President

I read this article yesterday in the AJC and couldn't have agreed more. I admit it... I like President Bush. I think in terms of security he did a great job. I firmly believe we would have been attacked again if he had not gone on the offensive. And I love that being an American means that you can disagree with me and what he did. But I also believe that as the President he desires at lot more respect than he got and is getting. The people spoke and elected him twice. I feel like many are trying to divide our country and isn't that what the terrorists want. Don't you think they love that most Americans talk bad about Bush.

I'll also admit, I didn't vote for Obama. And I sure I won't agree with everything he does in the next 4 years, but I will respect him and show him that respect. I won't call him names and insinuate that he is stupid. I don't think any of us can imagine how difficult the job is. He many tough decisions you must make on a day-to-day basis. How hard it is to deal with all the fighting between the parties. So today, I will be happy that the American government lives on. Happy that the color of a man's skin didn't stop him from achieving his dreams. Hopeful that change will really come to America and that my kids will inherit a country that they can be proud of.

And today I challenge my elected representatives to make a change. I was watching the History channel last night about the former presidents. By the way, really good. I learned the most interesting fact. Andrew Jackson was the first and last president to operate the government debit free. Isn't that sad? Why can't a brunch of grownups figure out that you can't spend what you don't have? No wonder most Americans live beyond their means. If it's good enough for Uncle Sam, why not them?

Crafty Mommy

My sister made Nicholas a bulletin board for x-mas from a ceiling tile. I seen them before and always thought that was a great idea so I decided to make Nolan one. His room is a jungle theme so I painted a Monkey on it. I love it and had to show it off :)

Here's a pic before I put anything on it.

With all his stuff

Below is a pic of Nicholas. He thought it was so funny to put Daddy's socks on :) I have to admit, he was right!

Stay tuned for more Crafty Mommy creations. I'm working on some spring clothes right now.

Let it Snow

I'm so excited...There is slight chance of snow on Sunday! Just a little chance, but still a chance! It will make the cold weather worth it if we get some white stuff on the ground!

On a totally different note, has anyone else read this book?

My MIL gave it to me and Jason for x-mas. I finished it the other night. I have to say it was very interesting. I loved the way it explained the blessed trinity in a way I could kinda understand :) I highly recommend to everyone out there to read it. It will really open your eyes to the love of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Fight Song

Jason played the fight song for Nicholas a couple of weeks ago and he is now obsessed with it. He loves this part...

"go teach the bulldogs to behave, send the yellow jackets to a watery grave"

We were behind a car last week that had a GA Tech Yellow Jacket sticker on the window and Nicholas yelled out.."Mom, we send them to a watery grave!" It was so funny. He also loves to talk about his friend Gavin at school that wears his UGA stuff all the time. He is going to teach him to behave!

I love it! He can't wait to see Big Al in a couple of weeks at the GA/AL basketball game that he is taking Daddy too. It was part of Daddy's x-mas.

Brotherly Love

Just when you are about to kill them, well the big one anywhere, for bothering and taking toys from each other they do something to remind you that they do love each other. Sorry, I don't have a picture. Nicholas was eating his Popsicle last night and I heard Nolan laughing. They were both in the kitchen and Nicholas was sharing his Popsicle with this baby brother. It was so cute and I was amazed that Nicholas was being so loving and sharing. Normally we want everything that little brother has and touches.

New Year Resolutions

Okay, so it is that time of year again...time to make New Year Resolutions. I've been thinking about this a lot for the last couple of days. There are many things I would like to change, but let's be realistic somethings are never going too. I have decided that I'm going to try to slow down life a little and try to spend more time with the kids. I feel most Mon-Fri that I'm running in about 12 different directions once work is over and I'm going, going, going until the kids go to bed. Does anybody else feel this way? How is one person supposed to do it all? Cook dinner, clean up, play with kids and have two seconds to myself? Is it possible without losing my mind? How does Michelle Duggar do it? So, my resolution is to try to not get so stressed out about the small things. I can always clean after the kids go to bed or the house can stay messy for one more day. My boys are only going to be young once. Also, I learned yesterday about something that is going to help me in my change. I now get to work from home 3 days a week! Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. This will really help. I can get laundry done and work out at lunch instead of at night, which means more time with the kids. I'm so excited!
So, readers, what are your resolutions for the New Year?

Happy New Year

Is it really 2009 already? I can't believe it. We had a great New Years Eve. We had 3 other families over for dinner. It was so much fun. All of them have young kids so Nicholas and Nolan had a blast playing with everyone. I was impressed...the kids made it until around 10:30 before they started passing out. Nicholas was so exhausted the next day. He took a 3 hour nap which never happens. New Years Day we all spent a lazy day at home and today Nicholas and I went and met some friends for lunch and went shopping. I got the cutest Alabama x-mas plate at 50% off and some cute material at JoAnn's to start making some spring/summer outfits. I'm washing the fabric right now so I can start cutting out tonight. Doesn't take much to excite me does it?
I hope you all had a great New Years. Here's to 2009!

Below are some cute pics of the kids.
